Best Macy’s deals and I surprise someone with $100 to spend at Macy’s!

I’m lucky to live about ten minutes away from a mall that has a Macy’s. I’m also lucky that they have an amazing fragrance department and it seems like every time I visit Macy’s, the deals are just better and better – and all on items that we just happen to need!!!

This season, I was fortunate to be a part of a very special project called, “Macy’s Surprise.” I, along with a few other bloggers, were given $100 to giveaway to whomever we wanted as we shopped at Macy’s!!!

The goal was to surprise unsuspecting Macy’s shoppers as they took advantage of holiday deals at the department store. The thing is… this project was a lot harder than it looked!!!

So here’s the thing… one can look very suspicious following shoppers around. I wondered if they were going to purchase everything they had in their hands, or if they were still trying to decide. At the checkout lines, it was hard to gauge whether they had at least $100 of merchandise to purchase. Macy’s deals are really good, and so what looks like a $100 purchase might in fact be a lot less.

Finally, I decided to hang around the handbag and shoes area. I knew I wanted to give the $100 to a woman. Women really look for a good deal and because they’re often shopping for more than one person, I felt that the $100 gift certificate would go a long way.

I was still wandering around the store when I walked next to a checkout lane and overheard this lovely woman trying to decide between different handbags. The checkout lady was helping her choose and I could hear the shopper saying how she loved all of them, but that she was on a tight budget. It was the perfect Macy’s Surprise opportunity!!!

I walked up to them, introduced myself and told her that I, on behalf of Macy’s, would love to put $100 towards her purchase. She was shocked, she was happy, and she was surprised!!! She also told me that Macy’s is her favorite store because she likes all the brands and sales. It was a wonderful afternoon and helping to spread a little joy to a Macy’s fan was the perfect way to end my week.
