FREE Are you interested in sending a letter to Santa Claus? The Buena Park Community Services Department is here to help! From Monday, November 20 through Monday, December 11, the Recreation Office at the Buena Park Community Center will display a special “Letters for Santa” Mail Box. All letters placed in our mail box will be sent directly to Santa! Or you can mail your letter to Santa. Be sure to include your name and address on the letter or envelope so that Santa can send you a special greeting! Mail letters to: Santa Claus, 6688 Beach Blvd., Buena Park, CA 90621.

Sherman Library & Gardens presents Nights of 1000 Lights for 11 nights in December. Stroll through the Gardens this holiday season and experience a dazzling display of lights and live entertainment. This year’s theme is “Hooray for Hollywood!”

Enter Sherman Gardens on the red carpet and stroll through the glistening light tunnel, on your way to ‘Moulin Rouge,’ a Parisian dance hall in the Tea Garden featuring can-can dancers and French cabaret singers. Take pics by a classic 1938 Packard convertible automobile, compliments of Packard Club International. Venture through the ‘Sherman Shop of Horrors,” and encounter “Trouble in Paradise” in the Tropical Conservatory. Experience the historic Hollywood Hills recreated with images from the Sherman Library archives.

Visit Santa in his “Miracle on PCH” workshop. Then head to the fire pit to whip up your own batch of s’mores. The Garden Shop will be open and is a must-see for unique holiday gift ideas.

Make a wish at “The Wishing Tree” and create lasting memories with friends and family celebrating the holidays at Sherman Library & Gardens.

Tickets are $30 for members, $50 for non-members. Children 3 and under are free.

‘Tis the season for Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train. Come with family and friends and take this enchanting ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Clause. The train will depart from the train station and drop passengers off at the North Pole. Children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken with him too. You may take pictures with your personal camera or you may purchase a photo taken by Irvine Park Railroad.

After visiting with Santa, hop back aboard the train and enjoy the colorful Christmas lights and decorations, as well as the magical “Tunnel of Lights”, on the ride back to Santa’s Village.

The parade is on Crown Valley Parkway between Nueva Vista and Crown Valley Community Park. The designated drop off area for entries and guests is at the northwest corner of Moulton and Crown Valley Parkway.

This year’s theme “Together Again!” celebrates a return to the Holiday Parade and will allow for many fun and creative entries. The annual Civic Center Plaza Tree Lighting event returns December 4, 4-7pm! Add this fun, free, family-friendly event to your holiday calendar; featuring festive performances led by Boxcar Theatre’s Artistic Director Nick A. Olivero, with the night’s lineup including music, performances, and appearances by Christmas VIPs and the man-of-the-hour: Santa.

The event also features “snow” flurries, where kids (and kids at heart) can twirl and dance through the falling snow, and a toy giveaway for the first 400 children 12 and under, led by Another Planet Entertainment with the San Francisco Police Foundation, along with the Civic Center Community Benefit District.

In the Makers Village, SF Etsy will lead holiday-themed activities (Santa letter writing station! Ornament making! More!) and the San Francisco Public Library will host a book giveaway. Festive bites from an Off the Grid food truck will be available for purchase, along with a full bar featuring seasonal favorites from Rye on the Road.

The event takes place across from an illuminated City Hall in Civic Center Plaza. Event begins promptly at 4pm, with the lighting of Civic Center’s 50-foot noble fir at 5:30pm.

Holiday Toy Drive | Orange County
November – December 9, 2024

Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings launched the 2024 Orange County Mayor’s Holiday Toy Drive. Now in its 14^th year, the toy drive has collected more than 86,000 toys and gifts directly benefiting local youth. Last year, the generous residents of Orange County donated 11,566 toys and served nearly 1,900 children, which was the toy drive’s biggest impact yet.

“Every toy donated to our toy drive goes directly to an Orange County family that needs support this holiday season,” said Mayor Demings. “By contributing, you’re not just giving a gift; you’re creating hope and spreading kindness. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Donations support Orange County youth and family agencies, including the Orange County Neighborhood Centers for Families, Wraparound Orange,  Orange County Public Schools Kids’ Closet, and local nonprofit organizations.

Residents can conveniently donate online or drop new, unwrapped items at one of 37 locations around the county. Here are details on how to participate:

FREE The event features a party-like atmosphere with carolers singing holiday favorites, free gingerbread cookies, and three kids crafts where children can decorate a wooden bakery board, create an elf-themed craft, and color elf-themed coloring sheets. Children attending the event will receive a free bakery hat and apron. Cookies, craft supplies and giveaways are while supplies last. Santa will arrive earlier in the day (at 11 a.m.) and can be found in his seat in the center’s elaborate “The Elf on the Shelf: Santa’s Magical Photo Adventure” home located in Macy’s Court where he will hear children’s wish lists and take professional keepsake photos with children and their families throughout the day.

Your ticket unlocks the magic — snap photos with Santa Claus in the Cabinet Room, help feed Santa’s Reindeer before their big trek, craft magical ornaments, build a hot cocoa confection, enjoy Back-Burner Soup from Polly’s Pies, sing along with Christmas-clad carolers, and hear the sweet melodies of the Nutcracker ballet, as well as other Christmas favorites, from the Concordia University Orchestra. The Concordia University Orchestra will be joined by the Orange County Ballet Academy, directed by April Ebru Sayin, who will be performing different selections from the Nutcracker Ballet.

But that’s not all — at 5:00 PM a dazzling tree lighting ceremony will take place that would make the Sugar Plum Fairy proud! Tickets for this event are: Adult Admission: Member: $35/Non-member: $40 and Child Admission: Member: $20/Non-member: $25. Children under the age of 4 are free.
