#1 – DirecTV access on the flight. You know that I don’t have cable and/or satellite television at home. I was thrilled when I found out that all JetBlue flights offer DirecTV programming on their flights! I packed my own headphones (saving the $2 headphone rental fee) and plugged them in as soon as I sat my tush down on the uber-comfy seats.
#2 – JetBlue serves unlimited snacks and drinks during ALL of their flights. The best part of that statement you just read is unlimited Dunkin’ Donuts coffee – JetBlue’s official coffee! And as it so happens, it also happens to be my favorite coffee. Unfortunately, there are no Dunkin’ Donuts coffee shops here in Cali so I’m stuck with buying the bagged version. Can I just tell you that the ones served on the plane tastes even better? And I loved the coffee cake muffin I purchased as my breakfast on my flight back. Delicioso!
#3 – Their staff is FABULOUS! I had a layover in New York. It was supposed to be a little over an hour but unforeseen circumstances caused the flight crew to be late and thereby, the wait was longer. How do I know so much detail? Because the gal manning the desk told everyone! Yes, every few minutes she was on her microphone keeping us updated on where the flight was, when the flight crew was due, etc. It actually made the wait go by quicker and no one complained that we had to wait longer.
#4 – Even More Space rows. I’m 5’8″ and my legs always seem to be squished when I’m between rows. Though the airplanes gave me sufficient room to place my feet under the seat of the person in front of me, nothing beat the extra leg room that I got on the last flight back. I walked up to the “Just Ask” desk and asked if they had a different seat (actually, I asked for a different flight but more on that later), she said yes and bumped me up to the even more space row. Score!
#5 – The “Just Ask” desk people are actually helpful. The switched my flight to a different destination when I saw that I would probably bore myself to death if I had to wait the five hours for my next and final flight as my original itinerary stated. The gal at the desk moved me to a different flight super quick and I was able to see the hubster three hours earlier than anticipated.
#6 – The charging stations at the JetBlue loading gates also double as a food ordering service. Each screen has a menu with food available for delivery to your seat. Beats having to walk around and seeing what’s available. A few touches here and there and your lunch is on its way.
#7 – Their excellent customer service prevails when it’s most needed. Remember how I said that I switched to a different flight that landed at a different airport? Well… my luggage didn’t make it. It was re-routed and after I drove to the original airport on my itinerary and found that my luggage wasn’t there either. Well, I’m happy to report that JetBlue did the right thing and delivered the luggage to my home! They gave me a call, told me it would be there in about two hours and sure enough, when I opened the door at 2 a.m. there it was. All 72 lbs. of it. Best of all? There was no extra charge for doing so! Way to step up JetBlue!
