The LEGO Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California Resort

The LEGO Movie Experience is the perfect complement to The LEGO Movie. It features a behind-the-scenes look at the real LEGO movie set! You’ll have the opportunity to step onto a soundstage, check out actual movie footage and explore some of the awesome models which helped inspire the new and completely original 3D animated adventure, The LEGO Movie.

The LEGO Movie Experience

Walking into The LEGO Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California Resort is like stepping straight into the movie. You get a view of the “basement” as it is portrayed in the movie as well as the different realms described and seen in the film.

You’ll can easily spend hours just combing through the different scenes and trying to spot your favorite LEGO characters like Emmet, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Wyldstyle and so, so many more.

It’s so much fun to look at all the different scenes and know that you can go home and re-build the set yourself.

If you get a chance to visit the new The LEGO Movie Experience, here are a few fun facts to keep in mind:

  • It took LEGO Master Builders 5 weeks to design models that make up the worlds that appear in Finn’s basement in the film.
  • It took a team of 10 LEGO Master Builders 2,000 hours (full-time over 5 weeks) to build all of the models.
  • The finished models contain approximately 1.5 million LEGO bricks and elements.

And you’ll have to let me know if this is still there… but the last time I was at The LEGOLAND Hotel they had this huge The LEGO Movie logo in the lobby.

The LEGO Movie Logo

I learned that it took LEGO Master Builders approximately two weeks to design the physical model of the movie logo and about four LEGO Master Builders approximately 220 hours to build! This huge model is a 5-times exact replica of the logo. And if it looks big – that’s because it is. The finished model is 8-feet long, 2.5 feet tall and 2.5 feet deep. It weighs approximately 1,200 pounds and contains about 54,811 LEGO bricks. Pretty cool, right?

Take a look at over 50 images of what you can expect to see at The LEGO Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California Resort in the video below or on the Living Mi Vida Loca Facebook page. It’s very cool to see up close, but if you can’t make it, this is the second best way to see it. Enjoy!
