Partnering with Cricket Wireless and Family Fun on a Budget

I live my life on my phone. I’m not one that is able to “unplug.” I document my life online via all my social media channels, and this is why I’m celebrating my recent partnership with Cricket Wireless. Cheers!

As a Cricket Wireless ambassador I’ll have the opportunity to continue sharing my life online, via their no-contract wireless service. The great thing about Cricket is that I can continue to use my iPhone 5S! Although I was a heavy Android user for years and years, my recent iPhone purchase has made me a believer. Really, it was a natural progression for me because my entire network is Apple-based. My MacBook Pro, my iPad and iPad Mini, and now, the iPhone. I can’t wait to check out all the must-have apps that I’ve been hearing so much about.

While I become a bit more acquainted with Cricket Wireless, I invite you to read my first post for their site – I talk about family fun on a budget. Something that I think we’re all too familiar with. And please, follow #VidaConCricket for more Cricket Wireless news, offers and fun!

With easy activation, great devices, and a service that works hard for you, Cricket Wireless is what you’ve been waiting for.

With Cricket Wireless you get a first-class nationwide wireless experience at a price that fits your life, without any annual contract. Shop for the latest cell phones, including iPhones, Android phones, and smartphones from Nokia and ZTE. Love your current phone? No problem! You can add it to the Cricket network.

Stay connected with Cricket’s reliable nationwide network and fast 4G LTE speeds. Our simple, straightforward monthly prepaid phone plans include mobile data access and unlimited talk and messaging. Plus all prices include taxes and fees so there are no surprises.

Celebrate Barbie’s Birthday at Farrell’s

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour hosts many celebrations throughout the year, but one of its most famous events is the upcoming celebration of Barbie’s 55th Birthday this Sunday, March 9.

Barbie Birthday Party at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour |

Join Barbie and Ken from 10am to 11am at your local Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour. They’re going to create a special, Barbie-inspired, Farrell’s famous 30-scoop, 7 ½lb. ice cream Zoo to run around the restaurant, complete with sparklers and the guest of honor herself sitting atop. Then the entire restaurant will sing a uniquely created happy birthday song and they will dish up the Zoo for their young guests (ages 12 and younger) to enjoy for FREE!

PLUS… birthday presents will be given out to some of their guests who’ve bring in their Barbie, child’s doll or action figure!

If, for some reason, you can’t make it to Barbie’s 10am birthday party, they’ll be celebrating all day by selling a $1.99 pink birthday sundae to all guests that bring in their favorite doll or action hero and purchase any regular entrée and drink. This special birthday sundae is fashioned from one scoop of strawberry ice cream, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, party sprinkles and a cherry on top.

So, who will be your plus one to the party? Astronaut Barbie, Doctor Barbie, Ballerina Barbie, President Barbie…

How to Draw Mr. Peabody in 10 Easy Steps

Mr. Peabody & Sherman is out in theaters and it’s my must-see movie for families this month. My kids have been watching the trailers and the special DreamWorks Presents: “Mr. Peabody & Sherman – A Journey WABAC” on Netflix as they anxiously await the matinee showing this weekend. Meanwhile, I’ve set up my 6 year old with this cool “How to Draw Mr. Peabody in 10 Easy-to-Follow Steps” diagram that I received on a recent trip to the Dreamworks Studio. Give it a try and let me know how your Mr. Peabody translates onto paper. Mine? It was horrible. Hope you have better luck at it!

How to Draw Mr. Peabody in 10 Easy-to-Follow Steps | #MrPeabody

About Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell, Emmy Award® Winner -Modern Family), the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman (Max Charles -The Amazing Spiderman), use their time machine—the WABAC—to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes The WABAC out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidently rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history.

Before and after with Zerorez

This is a sponsored post.

Did you know that the five-second rule is a myth? So my belief of dropping something on the floor, picking it up and still thinking that it’s okay because of “the 5 second rule” is out the window. It doesn’t exist! After baby numero dos that 5-second rule was easily extended to 10-15 seconds, so it’s been a tough one to live by the new mantra: “when it doubt, throw it out”.

Five second rule myths | #ZerorezSoCal

I was reading through some studies and articles online regarding the 5-second rule and I was surprised at some of the finding, and then closed the pages feeling lucky that my kids hadn’t contracted some type of horrible bacteria. For example, did you know that some bacteria can give you awful stuff, like diarrhea? You can’t see the bacteria but it sure can make you sick.

And even if you dropped your snack and then picked it up right away, bacteria can attach to your food as soon as it hits the floor. So food that is momentarily on the floor can get contaminated if conditions are right. Those foods with wet surfaces can pick up bacteria even more easily. It’s a dangerous world out there.

Cleaning with Zerorez cleaning solution | #zerorezsocal

My home, unfortunately, is ripe with bacteria. Not because I don’t clean the floors, vacuum, etcetera, but because we have horrible air quality. We live close to the freeway and we have an alley behind our patio. So all those vehicles passing by are constantly kicking up dirt, dust, and so on. Before we know it, our carpets are filthy, our countertops are dusty and our home is dirty. It’s a never ending battle, but one that I begun to fight back wholeheartedly thanks to Zerorez. Using this service on a quarterly basis will minimize the impact bacteria has inside my home.

About Zerorez

ZerorezSoCal is a new technology cleaning company that cleans carpets, upholstery, tile and grout, and much more using a patented, high pH alkaline water. The heated cleaning solution is simply softened water that is modified to increase the alkalinity, and it is so pure, the technician can drink it before they clean with it, because it truly is only modified water. That is very different from other cleaners that claim they “clean green” but still use undisclosed chemicals that may or may not be toxic. And because the Zerorez cleaning solution is “just” modified water, there is never any concern about “hidden” chemicals that remain after the cleaning technician leaves.

Before Zerorez came along, I knew my carpets were dirty – but I didn’t know that they were practically toxic. You can see in the image above just how dirty they were. I even had someone come in the day after and they asked me if I had put in new carpet. It was a night and day type of situation.

And did you know that they clean upholstery as well?! Last year, I purchased this off-white couch as my rebellion in an all-male household. Let’s just say that it’s been a battle to keep it looking off-white.  And the thing is, that I can use wipes to wipe it down, but what that does is just spread the dirt around. So it looks like a gray-off-white color. Well Keith, our Zerorez expert, used this special cloth and cleaning solution and restored it to its beautiful self. I’m in love with it again!

As a Zerorez SoCal Ambassador, I have the opportunity to extend to you a super  special discount to Southern California residents: 2 Areas for $99.

It’s a deal that is worth its weight in gold. To take advantage of this special offer, call 866-937-6739 or visit You’ll have the opportunity to use this deal on two areas (up to 200 sq feet each) for $99. It covers carpet, hardwood, tile and grout, and natural stone.

p.s. the Zerorez water cleaning solution is totally safe to drink. Proof.

Must-Try Girl Scout Cookie Recipes

Girl Scout cookie time is almost gone! If you’ve been waiting to snatch some up, you gotta do it TODAY. Buy as many as you can and stash them in the freezer.

Girl Scout cookies

This year, Girl Scouts of Orange County unveiled two brand new cookies: Cranberry Citrus Crisps and Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Shortbread. Moreover, if you’re in Orange County, California, you have the luck of the draw because the Orange County council is one of just 20 councils nationwide that are running the pilot of the Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Shortbread! I had the opportunity to try them and I totally think you should too (if you are able to grab some). They’re a lighter cookie that is a bit crispier. You can’t tell a difference!

Of course, Girl Scout cookies are sensitive to a lot of different diets, including Vegan diets. Girl Scout cookies that are vegan-friendly are: Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Lemonades and Thanks-A-Lot. So really, there is no reason not to grab some boxes!

If you buy more than you can consume in one sitting, consider freezing them. Take ’em out when you want to have a delicious treat, or maybe do something special with them. While I’ve always been partial to just eating them out of the box with some cafécito, you might want to try your hand at one of the “Must Try Girl Scout Cookie Recipes” that I pinned to the Girl Scout Cookies Pinterest board. These recipe masters are super creative and the drool-worthy pictures make it hard to stop at just one Girl Scout Cookie variation.
