Back-to-School Shopping at The Children’s Place

There are many first coming my way soon, one of which happened today: back-to-school shopping. Except for us it was more like first-time-attending-school shopping.

Last year, we did back-to-school shopping at The Children’s Place knowing that we would use the clothes and shoes that we purchased for everyday use. This time, it was different because it had to work for our everyday school days. It was our first honest-to-goodness back-to-school shopping trip.

In the end, I decided to leave my two boys behind with my mom while I drove up to The Children’s Place in LA with my friends, Jill of Sandy Toes & Popsicles and Angela of Nine More Months.

We arrive at The Children’s Place with my preordained shopping list from my kid: two pairs of jeans – one dark wash and one light wash and short sleeve t-shirts. I had taken the time to print out a much needed 30% off coupon to use during the shopping trip and to get even more bang for our buck.

When I walked in, all I saw was sale signs everywhere. I knew that I was going to walk out with a bagful of clothes and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

where to buy cheap school uniforms

The school that my kid is assigned too doesn’t require uniforms. I still haven’t decided whether that’s a good thing, or a bad thing. Anyway, my nieces do have to wear uniforms to school and I took note of these great deals that The Children’s Place is currently having on all their uniform basics. Though these uniforms are available online year-round, they only make appearances in stores once a year. And that’s now!

So as I’m walking by all the uniforms (and they have A LOT), I’m struck by a couple of non-familiar items in store. First, the denim jacket. My 5 year old has been asking for a denim jacket for months and months now. The only one I have been able to find was from Gap Kids, and frankly, I couldn’t afford it. The one at The Children’s Place however, was within my price range, but ended up being my splurge item at $29.95. It’s an item that I know will get used over and over again, so it was well worth it. Plus, I used my 30% off coupon. It only cost me $20.96.

Then I saw a Children’s Place first – colored five-pocket pants ($29.95). These new colored pants are available in three different colors, gray steel (not pictured), copper and oiled canvas. I was happy to see this store carrying these new jeans because I know my kid will wear them until I have to make them cut-off shorts.

I should also share that the store is currently having a $12 denim sale. I took advantage and added the two pairs of jeans that my kid asked for to my big blue shopping bag.

The item that I regret not getting is a backpack. They had some non-character ones, but the two that I wanted to get him featured characters. I couldn’t decide between Avengers or Agent P (each on sale for $17.46) so I didn’t get either. I’m going to have to take him in to choose it out himself.

Needless to say, the trip was a success and my kid was so ridiculously happy with my choices. I can tell that kindergarten is already off to a great start.

shopping haul from the children's place

My grand total for everything pictured above (which is everything that I purchased) was $94.31. I saved a total of $126.67 by shopping in the clearance section and stacking my coupon with current sales. See what else The Children’s Place has in-stores right now for their back-to-school season in the video below. I’m sure it’ll have you planning for a shopping trip of your own!

This is not a sponsored post. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping. All thoughts and ideas remain my own.
