Harlem Globetrotters are coming to Southern California!

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching the Harlem Globetrotters. I saw them live for the first time last year and they were so darn entertaining. I took my (then) five year old son and he was mesmerized by the tricks and the comedic factor that they offered. It was an absolute awesome show and I totally recommend it.
And yes – I still say that if all NBA players played like the Globetrotters, then there would be A LOT more people watching basketball games! Myself included. I mean, yeah, professional basketball games are fun and all – but they’re no Harlem Globetrotters.

I am even more over the moon that these talented guys are going to be visiting Orange County on February 15th, Los Angeles on February 16th and Ontario on February 17th as part of their 2014 “Fans Rules” World Tour.

The 2014 online ballot includes three never-before-seen revolutionary rules:

Hot Hand Jersey – Both teams will have a “Hot Hand Jersey” they can pass among each other. The player who is wearing this jersey will receive double points on made baskets.

Make or Miss – The quarter begins with only two players on the court for each team. When a team scores, a teammate may enter the game. When they miss, the player missing the shot must leave the court, leaving his or her teammates shorthanded.

Trick Shot Challenge – Via three challenge flags per team, each coach can challenge the other team to make a trick shot. If the team makes the trick shot, they earn five points. If they miss, the other team receives five points.

Fans can go online with their kids to HarlemGlobetrotters.com/Vote to vote for which ground-breaking rule they want to see implemented in the game. Then, fans can purchase tickets to see the winning rules live at the game.

I am not an NBA super fan but the Globetrotters are a glimpse into my youth. We used to go as kids to see them at Madison Square Garden. My 8 yr old loves basketball and physical comedy. This is right up his alley!

Robin Wachner
