alternaVites Kids

If there is one thing that has been consistent in my kids lives it’s vitamins. Since the days of giving them vitamins through a droplet, graduating to the chewables and finally (after much pushing from my oldest and the hubster), the gummies. Along comes this new, super cool way of giving the kids their much-needed vitamins in a fun way – alternaVites Kids. Think pixy stix – just a lot healthier.

AlternaVites Kids are quick-melting, travel quite nicely and can be mixed in with yogurt, smoothies, water, etc. OR they can be consumed directly from the package. Just pour a little of the crystals nice and slow onto the tongue, allow it to dissolve and then feed yourself some more.

alternaVites Review

My oldest had the opportunity to try out a month’s supply of alternaVites Kids in rasperry cotton candy flavor. I have to be honest… he was hesitant about trying them out. I think kids in general are like that though. Shove something in front of them, tell them to try it and you’ll get this:

Hesitant, a need to inspect it first and figure out exactly what they’re about to consume. Tell your kid to slowly pour some of the alternaVites Kids crystals slowly onto their tongue and this happens:

The whole thing gets poured into the mouth. Regardless, my boy LOVED these vitamins. I didn’t have to remind him every day to take his vitamins. First thing he did when after he brushed his teeth was to go to the cupboard where I kept them and grab one.

For the sake of this review, I went ahead and tried one too even though just reading “cotton candy” in the title of the flavor made me shy away from it. I’m not crazy about overly sweet flavors and I envisioned it tasting just like cotton candy ice cream (another no-no for me). The alternaVites were definitely not overly sweet. The crystals are very small. Almost dust-like. The texture was very fine and they dissolve quickly on the tongue. The flavor itself has it’s ups and downs. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. However, it has a little of a chalky taste which I was not crazy about but the kid doesn’t seem to mind. I would probably prefer it more mixed into a yogurt or something similar to that instead of just having it straight from the package.

The tiny package has a slit cut into it that allows you to rip it open with ease. I suggest cutting the top off with scissors instead. Why? Because when I followed the direction and just ripped off the tip of it, my son’s saliva made the vitamins cluster together and it was impossible for him to have the rest of the package.

alternaVites Kids makes it fun for my kids to enjoy their vitamins. Kid approved!
