Life in Orange County

My three year old is into solving murders

I became a SAHM on July 1, 2009 and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. We made this possible by giving up our first home and cutting back on bills… including the cable/satellite bill. We got rid of it entirely and now have FREE local t.v. and Netflix ($7.99/month).

Netflix is awesome for watching movies, but even better for watching tv series ’cause you get to watch the entire season without commercials. I just started watching Monk and because my little one is always around, he watches it with me too.

When he started asking where the body was during one of the episodes it occurred to me that he may get the wrong idea of what’s going on in the show if not properly discussed with him… either that or I stop watching the show and that is not something I want to stop doing.

So now, we talk about Monk as a detective, victims, bodies, homicide, mystery and motives. I’m not quite sure what the repercussions of him watching the show will be as he gets older, but I think it’s great that he’s interested in mysteries and that he gets excited when a case is solved. He gets the gist of what a detective does and even asks for his magnifying glass when it’s Monk time. So I’m wondering… are there shows that you let your kid(s) watch with you that aren’t really meant for kids?
